What you can do
The open room
Three rooms: NSFW, SFW and Suggestions. Pictures, GIFs, even videos are supported in both dms and the main chat. History is short on purpose: each room keeps only its newest messages, and older ones are recycled automatically as new messages come in.
Private messages
Click a name and write them. They can set messages to “by request” so strangers get one line, then wait.
Voice check
Optional. Read a random phrase into the mic. A badge shows you did it live. You can also ask someone in a private message to do the same, once.
Block and report
Block and they vanish for you. Report a message and it goes to the operator. Advanced bot detection methods have made this site one of the only ones that can say almost everyone you will talk to on the site is a real person.

What is Chatiw?
Chatiw.app is a free, adults-only public text chat. You pick a display name and a gender tag, then you talk. Pictures, GIFs, videos, group chats, and private messages are available. You can also send voice messages or do voice calls or group calls.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no email or phone number. An account is optional if you want the same reserved name on another device.
Is Chatiw 18+?
Yes. You must confirm you are 18 or older before the site loads. It is not for children.
How is Chatiw different from a dating app?
While profiles exist this is a chat room site, not a dating app explicitly. People are free to talk about whatever they wish, or make their own groups to discuss whatever they wish. The features exist to verify who you are talking to is real.

What is a voice check?
Optional. You read a random phrase into the mic. A badge shows you did it live. You can also ask someone in a private message to do the same, once. If I can find a less intrusive way to verify that someone is not lying about their gender I will implement it. For now, voice seems the best option. Voice check is only needed for women, as women pretending to be men is not currently an issue anywhere, only the other way around. I may implement some kind of verification for men so that women can be confident they are talking to who they think they are talking to. In this same vein, pictures taken live with your device display on that pic permanently, so you can take a live picture of yourself, use it on your profile, and not have people question that you are who you say you are. You can also go through manual verification where admins confirm that you are really who you are claiming to be. Also, if you are a trans person YOU MUST USE THE TRANS TAG. I'm not here to debate whether trans women are real women, its disingenuous to claim you are a female if you were not born as one, the trans tag exists specifically for you. Saying you are a woman if you are a trans woman instead of using the trans tag will result in a ban.
