- Random stranger chat: Those hide who is talking. Here the name and gender sit on the message.
- Forums: Those keep years of posts. History here is short on purpose.

### What is Chatiw?
Chatiw.app is a free, adults-only public text chat. You pick a display name and a gender tag, then you talk. Pictures, GIFs, videos, group chats, and private messages are available. You can also send voice messages or do voice calls or group calls.

### Do I need an account?
No. There is no email or phone number. An account is optional if you want the same reserved name on another device.

### Is Chatiw 18+?
Yes. You must confirm you are 18 or older before the site loads. It is not for children.

### How is Chatiw different from a dating app?
There is no profile feed and no swipe deck. It is one public room. Name and gender sit next to every message so people know who they are talking to.

### Can I send a private message?
Yes. Click a name and write them. They can set messages to by-request so strangers get one line, then wait.

### What is a voice check?
Optional. You read a random phrase into the mic. A badge shows you did it live. You can also ask someone in a private message to do the same, once. If I can find a less intrusive way to verify that someone is not lying about their gender I will implement it. For now, voice seems the best option. Voice check is only needed for women, as women pretending to be men is not currently an issue anywhere, only the other way around. I may implement some kind of verification for men so that women can be confident they are talking to who they think they are talking to. Also, if you are a trans person YOU MUST USE THE TRANS TAG. I'm not here to debate whether trans women are real women, its disingenuous to claim you are a female if you were not born as one, the trans tag exists specifically for you. Saying you are a woman if  you are a trans woman instead of using the trans tag will result in a ban.
